Rogers Partners with Comcast for Internet Network Tech

Rogers announced this week a new partnership with Comcast to improve internet services across Canada, increasing ties with the Philadelphia-based media and tech company.

According to Rogers, it plans to use Comcast’s network technology to offer faster speeds, better reliability, and lower latency by rolling out DOCSIS 4.0, which allows for faster internet.

Comcast’s tech includes built-in AI and cloud tools to help fix network problems and improve internet performance, especially for heavy internet tasks like gaming, video calls, and streaming 4K video.

“We’re continually investing in our national coast-to-coast wireline network, which connects over 60% of Canadian households, to deliver the best network performance to our customers,” said Mark Kennedy, Chief Technology Officer, Rogers, in a statement. “We have a longstanding partnership with Comcast and we’re proud to continue working together to bring Canadians the best internet technology.”

In August, Rogers says it began testing DOCSIS 4.0 modems in Calgary homes, offering download speeds of 4 Gbps and upload speeds of 1 Gbps. These speeds are the fastest on any Hybrid Fibre Coax (HFC) network, even surpassing many Fibre to the Home connections, says Rogers. By the end of 2024, Rogers plans to provide speeds of up to 2 Gbps to almost seven million homes.

Earlier this year, Rogers signed a 10-year deal with Comcast to bring the latest Xfinity products to Canada. This will soon allow millions of Rogers customers to access Comcast’s new entertainment devices, home security features, and improved connectivity.

"DOCSIS 4.0 is just around the corner" is what I'm being told for the last 6 years. Did Robbers even finish the DOCSIS 3.5 upgrades? Doesn't seem so if I look at upload speeds.
