Chatr Launches $149/Year Plan with 30GB Data, Talk and Text

Rogers-owned Chatr has introduced a new plan priced at $149 per year, offering 30GB of data at 4G speeds.

The plan includes unlimited Canada-wide calling, allowing customers to make nationwide calls. Subscribers can also send unlimited text, picture, and video messages to Canada, the U.S., and international numbers, but premium messages such as international alerts and promotional texts are excluded.

Once the 30GB data cap is reached, users can continue browsing at reduced speeds under Chatr’s Data Management Policy until the plan renews. The prepaid plan also includes voicemail, allowing up to 10 saved messages for five days with the option to set a personalized greeting.

The plan works out to $12.42 per month with 2.5GB of data, all self-managed from your total 30GB data bucket. This plan might be worth it for kids that need light texting and calling, or for a spare backup cellphone.

It’s worth pointing out Chatr is copying Quebecor’s Freedom Mobile, which has a $149/30GB annual plan and another $119/15GB option.

Recently, Rogers and Fido announced it will be ending its prepaid wireless services and urged customers to switch over to Chatr instead.

I suppose imitation is a form of flattery. Freedom Mobile has offered the following annual plans for several years now:
* $99/yr no data – $15 for 1Gb data
* $119/yr 15Gb/yr 4G Nationwide ($10/mo, 1.25Gb/mo)
* $149/yr 30Gb/yr 4G Nationwide ($12.42/mo, 2.5Gb/mo)

Once the 30GB data cap is reached, users can continue browsing at reduced speeds under Chatr’s Data Management Policy until the plan renews.

At 128kbps you won't be browsing with a web browser.

I'd rather be on my $50 plan at 125gb per month. Yeah it's alot over the 12 months but at the moment that's all I'm using to connect my apps and tv so it's pretty much useless for me to grab that and like the ad goes…. Good for the kids but still today's kids max it out in 1dayfrom all the vids they watch on YouTube or whatever platform they use for video's.

Im with ChatrMobile or plainly put… Chatr. It’s a subsidiary of Rogers Canada and they also own Fido plus Rogers has also bought out Shaw mobile/cable. Rogers is shutting down their Pre-Paid subscription service on their phone service and are informing their customers to go to ChatrMobile to continue a Pre-Paid subscription if they do not want a 2 year plan. Same with their Fido subsidiary. 100 GB for $50 no Autopay, WITH Autopay it’s 100 GB + 2gb extra.After about 4-6 months they may offer you the 125hb option but not sure if they still give that option. So yeah… Im styling with that.
