Bell Hits Customers with $5 Price Hike on Popular Plans

Bell has increased the price of select 5G plans on November 1, 2024.

According to changes on its website today, entry 5G plans have increased in price by $5 per month. This comes ahead of Black Friday, where most carriers bring on cellphone deals.

Bell’s wireless pricing as of today, can be seen below. It’s never been more confusing to navigate Bell’s plans and prices on its website (after a $10/month autopay credit):

  • $44/50GB 5G (up $5; was $39; for existing mobility customers; BYOD)
  • $54/50GB 5G (up $5; was $49; for existing mobility customers)
  • $75/50GB 5G
  • $65/100GB 5G+ BYOD
  • $75/100GB 5G+
  • $80/150GB 5G+ BYOD
  • $90/175GB 5G+
  • $100/175GB 5G+ BYOD + HD streaming
  • $110/200GB 5G+ and HD streaming

For comparison’s sake, Rogers still has a $39/50GB and $49/50GB 5G plans. Expect Rogers to possibly match Bell here at some point. Telus has 5G plans starting from $65/month with 100GB data (no cheaper entry plans).

All plans include Crave Basic with Ads. Do you want HD streaming on mobile? You’ll need to pay at least $100 per month.

These plans are only for new activations and some are specifically for bring-your-own-device (BYOD) customers. The $70 connection fee is of course waived if you activate online.

Back in September, Bell increased the price of select ‘winback’ plans by $6 per month. At this point, cheaper wireless plans are available from flanker brands of the ‘Big 3’, mainly Public Mobile, Fido, Virgin Plus, Koodo and also Quebecor’s Freedom Mobile, which still leads with a $35/50GB 5G Canada-US-Mexico plan.
