Rogers, Fido Give Away Free Data Ahead of Black Friday: How to Claim It
Rogers and Fido are doling out free data right now to select customers, notifying them via text message once again. The timing comes ahead of expected Black Friday wireless deals, so this may be a move to keep customers happy and loyal, so they don’t switch away.
According to text messages shared by iPhone in Canada readers, Fido is giving away 20GB to select customers, calling it a “gift that sleighs,” telling customers to “start the cozy season off right with this little treat.”
To claim your free 20GB from Fido, you need to sign into your account on your desktop, click the pop up that appears, then click accept to receive your monthly data bonus. Fido says your data bonus will remain monthly for as long as you stay on your plan.
For Rogers, it’s sending similar text messages, but some customers are being offered 30GB. Again, you need to sign into your Rogers account, look for the “exclusive offer”, then click “get this offer”. Rogers says the 30GB bonus comes at “no added cost, no new contract, no kidding!”.
The average Canadian has been conditioned to use their data plans sparingly given previous high data costs. Now we’re being bombarded with more data than we really need per month. Instead of a data bonus, lowering monthly prices would be a better way to retain customers. Last month, Rogers and Fido increased prices for select wireless customers.
Let us know in the comments if you received any free data bonus offers via text message from Rogers or Fido.

Hey Gary because of my retention phone plan rogers gave me the additional 30 GB of data. Yeah it was pretty easy to claim. I just signed into my account and clicked on the link that said exclusive offer then they added it to my account automatically
Again, nothing for me. Weird, I never got an offer that didn't require paying MORE than I'm currently paying. I would take free data (which I'll probably never use) but I wouldn't pay for it.
