Public Mobile Launches Cheaper 50GB Plan to Match Fizz
Telus-owned Public Mobile has launched a new 50GB plan in what looks to match an offer from Videotron’s Fizz.
Public Mobile updated its website this morning to add a new $29/50GB plan with 4G data, available Canada-wide. This is a limited-time offer that ends on March 31, 2025.
You’ll remember that yesterday we told you about how Public Mobile launched a new $26/20GB 4G plan.
Here are Public Mobile’s 4G Plans (all Canada-wide) as of today:
If you’re going to pay $29, you may as well get the 5G plan with Canada-US-Mexico talk, text and data. It’s worth pointing out Fizz has LTE data speeds while Public Mobile’s offer has 4G.
Here are Public Mobile’s 5G Plans (Canada-US-Mexico) as of today, March 28 (no major changes):
- $29/20GB + 100 international minutes (ends March 31)
- $35/60GB + 500 international minutes (end date March 27)
- $45/100GB + 1000 international minutes (end date March 27)
As for the $29/50GB plan, Public Mobile says it’s for new activations only.

"If you’re going to pay $29, you may as well get the 5G plan with Canada-US-Mexico talk, text and data."
Why? It has 60% LESS data (50gb vs 20gb). Unless you know, for a certainty, that you will be spending a lot of time in the States or Mexico, it does not make sense to give up 30 gigs of data at the same price point.
