Rogers Launches 250GB Global Roaming Plan, But Not for Everyone

Rogers has debuted a global roaming plan that includes talk, text and data, but only for customers in one province: Quebec.

That’s because in Quebec, the ‘Big 3’ face regional competition from Quebecor’s Videotron.

The Rogers plans in Quebec are as follows for bring your own device and after a $10/month autopay discount:

  • $45/100GB

  • $75/250GB Canada + 64 global destinations + 3 months free Sportsnet+ and 50% off Roam Like Home

The eligible destinations for the global roaming plan lists places in Europe, Asia, South America, the Middle East and more: Argentina, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bonaire, Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Curaçao, Czech Republic (Czechia), Denmark, Dominican Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain (United Kingdom), Greece, Guadeloupe, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland (United Kingdom), Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Scotland (United Kingdom), Singapore, Sint Maarten, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Usa, Vatican City, Vietnam, Wales (United Kingdom).

For existing Rogers customers in Quebec, check your offers because some people are seeing an $80 plan with 400GB of data. Others in Ontario are seeing a $65/month plan with global roaming being offered by the loyalty department.

To put these plans into comparison with Videotron, let’s take a look. If you also subscribe to Videotron internet, you can save an extra $10 to :

  • $48/25GB Canada-US ($38 with internet)
  • $60/100GB Canada-US ($45 with internet)
  • $80/45GB Canada + 100 global destinations ($60 with internet)
  • $80/200GB Canada-US-Mexico ($60 with internet)

Videotron says you can save the $50 activation fee if you shop online. Rogers charges $75 for its activation fee if you shop with a human but will also waive it if you shop online.

It’ll be interesting to see if Rogers will expand global roaming plans beyond Quebec. Let’s wait and see.
