Public Mobile Mexico Trip Contest: Who Won?

Back in March, Telus-owned Public Mobile launched a contest offering a free trip for two to Mexico. All you had to do was subscribe to an eligible plan.

The requirement was to jump on a $35/month or higher 5G Canada-US-Mexico plan. The winner would receive two roundtrip economy flights to Cancún from a major Canadian city, plus a five-night hotel stay chosen by Public Mobile. The prize value was worth $5,000 to $8,000 CAD and was to be used by February 28, 2026.

Now, some of you reached out to ask about who won the Mexico contest by Public Mobile. There was no information posted online about who won in the Public Mobile forums. But after reaching out to the company, a Public Mobile spokesperson told iPhone in Canada that the “winner has been selected and notified,” and are in the process of planning their trip.

Public Mobile added they don’t plan to announce the name of the winner to protect their privacy, but if the winner chooses to share once on their trip, that of course is their choice.

While the winner gets privacy and a free trip, the lack of seeing a name of a winner can cloud transparency, for those trying to see who won. Maybe keep your eyes peeled on social media to see if the winner will share about their free prize trip once in Mexico or not.

Earlier today, Public Mobile updated some of their plans to double long distance minutes.

At least they should put first name and last name's initial, and the city they are from. That is pretty standard for these kind of contests.

If they ran this promotion in Quebec too then they would have had to submit proof (to an auditor in Quebec) that the lottery was fair and they actually selected a winner.
