Rogers Just Expanded Wi-Fi 7 to Another Province
Rogers has started offering WiFi 7 to its 5G Home Internet customers in Quebec, building on its launch earlier this month.
The new technology brings faster and more stable internet, which can be helpful for homes with multiple devices streaming, gaming, or working at the same time.
“Canadians deserve the best connectivity experience, and the launch of a WiFi 7 capable device in Quebec delivers on our plans to bring the latest technology to more Canadians,” said Bret Leech, President, Residential, Rogers, in a statement on Wednesday. “WiFi 7 delivers enhanced performance and better adaptability for an ultra-reliable, ultra-low-lag experience.”
WiFi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and better performance in crowded networks compared to WiFi 6. It also supports wider channels and multi-link operation, allowing devices to use multiple frequencies at once for smoother connections. But of course your devices need to support WiFi 7 to take advantage of it.
According to Rogers, the average Canadian home now has more than 20 connected devices, and internet use has more than tripled in the last five years.
Back on Canada Day, Rogers debuted WiFi 7 for the first time, but it was only available in select areas in Calgary. Last week, Rogers also brought WiFi 7 to Atlantic Canada.
The launch of Wi-Fi 7 in Quebec comes after Telus launched its own Wi-Fi 7 hardware yesterday, but made it available in B.C., Alberta and Quebec.
