Why Bell Just Swept Canada’s 2026 Internet and Wireless Awards Again
Bell announced today that it has reclaimed its title as Canada’s fastest internet and wireless provider. The company earned a clean sweep in the 2026 connectivity rankings from Ookla, nPerf, and BrandSpark, confirming its lead in both raw network speed and consumer trust.
Pure Fibre takes top spot for internet speed
For the sixth consecutive period, Bell Pure Fibre was named Canada’s Fastest Internet by Ookla. The company also secured the top spot for its 5G network, which was recognized as the fastest and best in the country.
“For Bell, connection is everything,” said Blaik Kirby, Group President of Consumer and Small Business at Bell, in a statement on Thursday. He noted that the awards reflect a commitment to building a network where Canadians can “work, stream, game and keep in touch with confidence.”
New records for mobile gaming and 5G performance
The recognition from Ookla was particularly broad this year, covering nine different Speedtest Awards for mobile and fixed performance. Beyond speed, Bell took home hardware for the best 5G and mobile gaming experiences.
Stephen Bye, President and CEO of Ookla, called the sweep a “significant achievement,” pointing specifically to Bell’s latest work with 5G+ and Wi-Fi 7 technology. The network’s quality was also highlighted by nPerf, which ranked Bell as the best internet for streaming performance in Canada.
Rising friction and customer billing disputes
While Bell is collecting awards for its network speed, it is also seeing a rise in customer friction. According to the latest annual report from the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) released yesterday, Bell accounted for 17% of all accepted complaints this year.
While Rogers and Telus saw even higher volumes, Bell’s 3,966 complaints represent a nearly 16% increase from the previous year. The data shows that most of these grievances involve contract breaches and missing credits or refunds.
Consumer trust remains high despite service hurdles
While the technical awards measure speed, BrandSpark International looked at how Canadians actually feel about their service. For the sixth year in a row, Bell was voted the country’s most trusted high-speed internet provider. This wasn’t a decision made by a board of directors; it was based on the direct feedback of over 45,000 shoppers.
“Trust is the foundation of strong consumer relationships,” said Robert Levy, President of BrandSpark International. He added that the 100% consumer-voted award is a “testament to Bell’s commitment to delivering quality telecommunications.”
