If you’re trying to find the download link for the Freedom Mobile iOS or Android app, good luck, because it ain’t happening. The company has announced the app has been cancelled and users now need to check their account settings on mobile from their browser.
According to the @FreedomSupport Twitter account, it replied to a customer to say “The My Account app has been cancelled. You would need to access My Account directly through our website.” When asked why the app was shut down, even the customer service rep was left in the dark, saying “I wish I had an answer for you.”
The Freedom Mobile iOS app had its origins as the Wind Mobile My Account iOS app, which debuted in 2014.
Currently, the only app in the App Store by Freedom Mobile is their ‘Freedom Wi-Fi’ app, which helps customers connect to Shaw’s Wi-Fi hotspot network across Canada. The most recent update for this app was back in December 2017.
Wireless carriers cancelling their mobile account management apps are not exactly new, as Telus flanker brand, Koodo Mobile, axed their iOS app nearly a year ago, citing how customers favoured their mobile site instead.
Are you sad the Freedom Mobile My Account iOS app has been cancelled? No word if possibly a newer app is coming or now, but we will update this post with updates when we get them.
