The first image shows the logic board of the next-generation iPad Air which contains the A8 chip used on the iPhone 6, however the chip may have a higher CPU clock speed and better GPU performance than the iPhone. The improved GPU could help power a new Retina HD display that may make an appearance on the new iPads. The new chip, dubbed the “A8X,” is said to be accompanied by more RAM (rumours point to 2GB).

The home button cable was also leaked and it appears to contain space for Touch ID. Multiple rumours have pointed to the next version of the iPad Air to contain Apple’s fingerprint reader. Touch ID first debuted on the iPhone 5S and brings an added layer of security to your device.

The front panel of the iPad Air 2 shows a similar design to the current generation iPad. Reports have claimed that the display will be laminated onto the glass on the iPad Air 2 for an overall thinner design.
