Every year the London hotel selects a different, high-profile designer to come up with a unique and iconic design for its Christmas tree. This year’s version, which is sure to look stunning considering its creators, will be unveiled in the hotel’s lobby on November 18.

“Christmas has always been a truly special time of year at Claridge’s and we are delighted to welcome our friends Jony and Marc to spread their legendary creative magic this year,” said Paul Jackson, Claridge’s general manager. “We truly believe their innovative spirit and groundbreaking approach will make this year’s annual tradition one to remember for our guests.”

Sir Jony Ive is a celebrated designer, famous for designing a vast amount of iconic Apple products, including the iMac, PowerBook, MacBook, iBook, iPod, iPad, and AppleWatch. Ive is largely responsible for the overall look and feel of much of Apple’s hardware, packaging, and user interface. He is also famed for designing major architectural projects for the Cupertino company, including their retail stores and the upcoming Apple campus.

Marc Newson is certainly one of the more influential designers of the last few decades. Mr. Newson has been responsible for creating everything from furniture to household products to bicycles and cars. He has also designed aircraft, yachts, and various signature sculptural pieces around the world. Apple hired Newson in the fall of 2014.

Both men also worked together with Bono for Sotheby’s (RED) charity auction in 2013.

The two designers are absolutely an inspired choice by the hotel which, despite its age and heritage, continues to push the boundary of design thanks to its innovative and energized management.
