Apple Teases Mac Pro with Apple Silicon is Coming Still
During Apple’s March event today, the company revealed its latest Apple Silicon product, the M1 Ultra, which is available with the company’s new Mac Studio desktop computer.
Near the end of Apple’s special presentation, the company teased a Mac Pro with Apple Silicon is coming soon.
John Ternus, SVP, Hardware Engineering, was providing an overview of the company’s Mac lineup and added a teaser about the Mac Pro at the end.
“Together with the Studio Display, these products will empower users to create the studios of their dreams—and to continue to change the world,” said Ternus.
“And they join the rest of our incredible Mac lineup with Apple Silicon, making our transition nearly complete with just one more product to go: Mac Pro. But that, is for another day,” he teased. A slight pause after mentioning “Mac Pro” suggested we might learn about a new Mac Pro, but Ternus said it would be coming later in the future.
The Apple Studio was touted as being much faster in terms of CPU and graphics performance versus the existing Mac Pro. We can’t imagine many people will be buying Intel-based Mac Pro machines anytime soon.
Likely we’ll hear about a Mac Pro with Apple Silicon at WWDC this summer or possibly a later fall special event.
