Lucky Mobile and Chatr Drop 25GB Plan Deals—Who Wins?

Bell-owned Lucky Mobile and Rogers-owned Chatr have now launched new 25GB plans, matching each other, alongside one free month promotions.
These prepaid brands have brought back the $29/25GB plan we saw back in March 2024. As for the free month promos, Lucky gives you the third month free on a $29/month or higher plan, while Chatr offers one month free on plans priced $27/month or higher. This free month is given back to you in the form of bill credits.
Check out the current plans from Lucky and Chatr below. Looking back to a year ago, prices are up, but data is up slightly after autopay bonuses. Last year’s $34 plan only had 55GB of data.
Lucky Mobile (3rd month free promo for $29 and higher plans)
- $19/500MB
- $25/3.5GB
- $29/25GB (new)
- $34/65GB Canada/US Calling
- $45/85GB Canada/US Calling
- $55/105GB Canada/US Calling
Chatr Plans After Autopay 5GB Bonus (1 month free on plans $27 and higher, until April 2)
- $19/500MB
- $25/3.5GB
- $29/25GB (new)
- $34/65GB Canada/US Calling
- $45/85GB Canada/US Calling
- $55/105GB Canada/US Calling
- $100/year: 400 minutes nationwide talk + 400 nationwide texts
- $149/year with 30GB + nationwide talk
So which prepaid brand is a better pick? Chatr looks to give you your free month sooner, instead of waiting until your third month with Lucky Mobile. But if you really want a better plan, Telus-owned Public Mobile has a $29/20GB 5G plan, which has faster speeds and also includes talk, text and data within Canada, the US and Mexico. Chatr and Lucky Mobile have yet to offer data roaming, only offering included US calling which nobody really cares about.
