Bell’s New 5G+ Speeds Are Up to 65% Faster: Here’s Who Gets It First

Your 5G+ wireless speeds from Bell are getting faster, depending on where you live. The company has activated a major 5G+ speed boost across parts of southern Ontario, bringing noticeably faster mobile performance to customers with compatible devices.

The company confirmed to iPhone in Canada on Thursday that it has deployed new 3800 MHz spectrum (and n77 frequency band), increasing speeds by up to 65% faster in 17 communities across the region.

The upgrade enables Bell’s fastest 5G+ speeds so far, with peak theoretical downloads reaching up to 3.64 Gbps. Cities covered in this rollout include Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, Vaughan, and others. Users of newer Apple, Samsung, and Google phones will see the biggest performance jump, according to Bell.

“Putting our customers first while delivering the best fibre Internet and 5G wireless networks is at the heart of everything we do. This spectrum rollout in Ontario complements our ongoing investments in a 5G Advanced technology infrastructure, ensuring Canadians benefit from faster speeds and more reliability today while we build the foundation for what’s next. From immersive entertainment and cloud gaming to AI powered enterprise solutions and real time AR collaboration, this evolution will enable Canadians to connect, work and innovate in exciting new ways,” said Mark McDonald, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Bell, in a statement.

Bell says the expansion is part of its move toward 5G Advanced technology, aimed at improving reliability, lowering latency, and supporting more demanding apps. The company said this work builds on earlier spectrum tests in Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo and follows its 2023 purchase of the largest share of 5G+ spectrum in Canada.

The new spectrum is intended to better handle heavy data use, such as HD streaming, mobile gaming, and real-time collaboration tools.

The full list of newly covered markets with faster 5G+ includes Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Oakville, Burlington, Oshawa, Whitby, Milton, Ajax, Pickering, Aurora, Halton Hills, Grimsby, and Lincoln.

Back in September, Bell announced it would be bringing faster 5G speeds to over 225 Canadian cities in 2026.

Is it accessible to Telus customers as well? Or Bell exclusive?

As a Telus customer in Sydney, NS (Bell country), I can say that I have access to N66, N77 and N78 5G on my 16 Pro Max.

I wonder if these companies increase speeds and give more data (which costs them fraction of a cent) while keeping prices the same or higher to make it look like a good deal. I use next to no data yet my price keeps increasing. Look at what you use and buy that amount.
