Apple iPhone 11 Event 2019: What to Expect on September 10

We’re less than 24 hours from Apple’s iPhone 11 event tomorrow, where new models are expected to be announced for 2019.

What will Apple reveal at its special event? Here are some expectations of what’s coming, based on previous reports.

New iPhone Models

Three new models replacing the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. As for naming, “Pro” is supposed to make its way into the higher-end models (iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max?!), while the iPhone XR may just become iPhone 11.

Designs are supposed to be similar to 2018 models, but there will be an extra camera on the rear of each new model. Three total cameras for the high-end models, while the XR successor will now have two cameras.

The third camera is said to be an ultra wide-angle lens, while 3D Touch may also be eliminated from this year’s models. Another camera update will most likely bring better low light capabilities and video improvements. New rear square-shaped camera bumps are expected (yuck?).

The “Pro” models will retain their 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED displays, while the XR replacement will stick to a 6.1-inch LCD, but the latter will also reportedly gain new colours such as green and lavender.

Faster A13 processors are expected, but 5G networking and in-display fingerprint scanners are not expected. The Apple logo will apparently move and be centred to allow for wireless power-sharing.

Apple Watch in Ceramic and Titanium

iOS 13 leaked new Apple Watch models coming in ceramic and titanium, which may either be an update to Series 4 or an all-new Series 5. Apple Watch models are rumoured to get sleep tracking, while the company may refresh its straps ahead of the holiday season, again.

Apple Tag

Apple is rumoured to debut a Tile-like competitor powered by ultra-wideband and a new coprocessor known internally as ‘Rose’ or ‘R1’. These Apple tags will help you locate items such as keys. The idea sounds interesting, but as for the cost, we’ll have to wait and see.

Apple TV Refresh

A recent rumour claimed a refreshed Apple TV may debut, powered by a more powerful A12 Bionic processor. The updated Apple TV would, of course, be the perfect streamer for Apple TV+, coming this fall.

Software Updates

Apple will most likely announce the final golden master of iOS 13 for developers tomorrow, while releasing the final build for everyone else on the following Monday, like last year with iOS 12. So iOS 13 may come out on September 16th.

iPadOS 13, tvOS 13 and watchOS 6 should also be available with the release of iOS 13 for the public. As for macOS Catalina, that will usually roll out one week later, which would be on September 23rd.

Pricing for Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade should also be announced tomorrow.

Wild Cards

New iPads and a larger 16-inch MacBook Pro most likely will not debut at the event but may come at a separate October announcement. What about new AirPods? Or refreshed HomePod?
